A holiday home that is essential, profound, and welcoming
Casa Agota is an apartment of 80 m2 on the ground level, completely covered by a stone vault. Suitable for a couple, a couple with children or a small group of friends, it consists of a space with a well-equipped kitchen, living room, sleeping quarters, an alcove with wardrobe and a large bathroom with shower.
Casa Agota, which was probably used as a drying chamber or a forging place, is an intimate, sober space with a strong personality that is softened by the modern, minimal furniture. On the outside is a small private area where in Summer or on sunny Winter days you can eat or rest in the friendly embrace of the mountains and the Varaita Valley.

Characteristics: When we arrived here in the 1970s, Casa Agota was inhabited by one of the last old-aged women that stayed in the village. However, when we restructured the house and stripped the vault, we discovered a primitive fireplace, old irons and wood blackened by smoke, which suggested an original use as a drying chamber or a small forge. Something very old, that is, something intimate and primitive, that made us think of the dense, mysterious writing of Agota Kristof, her bare, rudimental stories, that contain only the essential. A place and a kind of writing that take us back to our first refuges, to the safety that they must have once represented for people. To solidity and fire.

You will find here: fridge with freezer + dishwasher + hairdryer + induction hob + microwave oven + satellite tv + DVD player + small DVD collection and library. Washing machine and vacuum cleaner available in the communal washing room.
Possibility to rent mountain bike at our place, and e-bikes provided by Cicli Mattio for a fixed price. Sala Yanez (a hall that can contain 25/30 persons) is adjacent to the holiday home and may be booked for events, cultural activities, courses, and seminars.
